Summary:
Chapter 70:
Samson, an 11-year-old student at the Guardsmen Academy, undertakes an ambitious Applied Sciences project to build a full-sized ballista in just one week. He makes a high-stakes wager with his History professor, risking failure in the class if his project doesn’t impress. Despite initial doubts and challenges, Samson perseveres, receiving unexpected help from an older student in constructing the siege weapon. Upon completion, the ballista proves too large to remove from the workshop, causing Samson anxiety about presenting his project.
However, when revealed to his class and professors, the ballista generates immense excitement, particularly among the Guardsmen. The demonstration on the Academy’s high-level training range results in spectacular success, with the ballista destroying a concrete target at 200 meters. Samson’s project not only earns him passing grades but also garners admiration from Guardsmen and faculty alike, showcasing his exceptional engineering skills and determination.
